When Lily finally let herself into her apartment a half hour later, she felt like she was visiting a complete stranger’s apartment. Her things were there, and it was her home of course but it felt barren, empty. Had she really only been gone just over a day?

An overwhelming urge to see Alex washed over her. Dropping her things by the door she looked for the drawing she had made. The sketch had captured the Reaper’s essence and while it was a poor substitute, it would suffice for now.

It wasn’t there. She tore up her desk and workspace searching for it as the realization that someone or something had been in her apartment, struck her.

Her harsh laugh as she wiped away a tear mirrored her feelings. It was simple, she wanted Alex with her. Her head was telling her she was crazy and that she’d only known the Reaper for a few days, but in her heart’s reality they had already loved a lifetime’s worth.
